Liz Ortiz Yoga

Liz Ortiz, M.A., ERYT-500, YACEP has a Masters Degree in both Health Education and Stress Management.  She began teaching vinyasa yoga in 1999 and trained under the ISHTA lineage with Alan Finger.  She holds multiple yoga teaching certifications totaling more than 1000 hours of training, including most recently 200 hours with Yoga Works in 2019 and a YIN certification with Josh Summers in 2020.  When Liz teaches, she balances the power and challenge of yoga asana with a strong connection to yoga philosophy and inspiration.   When synchronized with breath, the postures help one find a home for both body and mind, and the practice opens the door to a deeper knowledge of oneself.  This is the true intention of yoga and the way in which Liz likes to teach.

In addition to teaching, Liz has been a yoga teacher trainer since 2002 and is a continuing education provider with Yoga Alliance.  Liz was the co-owner of Living Yoga in Cold Spring, NY from 2012-2017, which was voted the Best Yoga Studio in the Hudson Valley 5 years in a row.   Currently, Liz is in training as a health and wellness coach so she can enhance the work she is already doing with her students and support others on the path to wellness and wholeness.  She is a very  happy resident of the Hudson Valley in New York.

The Power of Flow

All my classes are vinyasa based practices that safely create strength, flexibility and cardiovascular benefits. Classes also regularly include traditional yoga philosophy and discussions on the application of this philosophy to our lives.  All my  privates are tailored to the needs and level of the individual. Find my teaching schedule by clicking on "Group Classes" at the top of my Home page.

Teach Once, Learn Twice

Whether you want to teach or just deepen your practice, a teacher training is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the world of yoga. I have trained teachers since 2002 and am currently the Director and primary teacher of the Sat Shakti teacher training. This 200 hour training is registered and approved by Yoga Alliance and teaches you the art and science of teaching vinyasa yoga. Find out about future teacher trainings by clicking on "Upcoming Events" at the top of my Home page.

Dig a Deep Hole

Workshops are an excellent way to enjoy the details of parts of the practice about which you are most interested in learning.  I offer a variety of workshops including but not limited to: inversions, arm balancing, meditation, and spiritual philosophy. Find out about upcoming workshops and events by clicking on "Upcoming Events" at the top of my Home page.

Work the practice

I love bringing the peace and clarity of a yoga practice to the workplace.  With my background in yoga, stress management and health education, I am uniquely prepared to teach the techniques of proper breathing, meditation, asana and stress management tools appropriate to the workplace environment.

Yoga is all about connection and relationship. Reach out if you'd like to know more or be added to my email list
